STRANGER IN PARIS
I was in Paris around the turn of the century
the streets were all-ways-wet and none made sense to me
the women there barely looked at me.
I felt so ugly
each time I tried to speak,
all they said to me was 'no Engle'
I got off the train, whichever one ran
crooked like the rain from Amsterdam
the maitre'd could plainly see I needed meat on my bones
"But- do you have anything vegetarian?" I asked.
"Sorry, no ma'am."
I started walking toward Morrison's grave
perhaps there was a ghost for me to save,
or a road for me to pave
then I heard a voice in me
saying 'Let it be'
there is no communion to be made.
and to be frank, I spent my money too fast
on fancy cigarettes & disposable cameras
broke and too wet to step foot inside the Louvre,
I took a panorama of it instead.
DARK DAYS FOR DANCING
"find a place to stay while we're waiting on the end of the world"
watch your head on the balcony!
dark days for dancing, bad days for good
oh, we never know if we're doing what we should
watch your head on the balcony, babe.

Mary Lake
03:09

came home from the hospital
with teeth sunken in
still shocked you survived the fall
and kept most your chin
one day we may realize
it's a blessing in disguise
'cuz I never saw the stars in your eyes
til you crashed Mary Lake
so glad to see your funny smile
grateful you're alive
now you know how much I care
it was well worth the drive
maybe something in these skies
works its magic in disguise
'cuz I never saw the stars in your eyes
til you crashed Mary Lake
if only they could see us now
laughing in the dark
while they've slaughtered every sacred cow,
they never found the art
one thing they can't compromise
is how we sing, our sacrifice
it all changed for good that night
you crashed on Mary Lake
it all changed for good that night
I crashed on Mary Lake
it all changed for good that night
we crashed on Mary Lake

Start a Garden

the road to perdition
is shiny with lies
but no so invisible anymore
from where the crow flies
any fool can see
the dead end streets
on our promised lands
so it's a lovely day to start a garden
(pass me some sunshine,
here's a seed
now we can grow
anything we need...)
any fool can see
the dead end streets
on our promised lands
so it's a lovely day to start a garden
now I know I don't have to say this,
so maybe I'll sing it...
so it's a lovely day to start a garden
(look up the sprouting age of hemp,
how much to water? and what soil temp?)
(somebody's taking chances
breaking down rotten branches
of the government...)
it's a lovely day to start
another day to start
another day to start
a garden

Projecting
02:07
|
|
||
under the rocket's red glare
a little stroll for fresh air,
anywhere
away from the police
we're breathing out the old
breathe in the new...
I promised myself I wouldn't cry
but then the tear gas hit my eye
don't know what I'm walking into
with you
(my love)
something new
it's something...
everything that is old
must give way
to something new.
something new
(something...)
